There are two species of large camels - the two-humped camel and the single-humped dromedary species. Since they are closely related, they can also be cross-bred. The original species, the wild camel, is now threatened with extinction.
Camels can live without water for weeks. The fluid loss can be replenished again within a few minutes. They can drink up to 150L at a time! Their humps are made of fat and are used mainly as food storage. During difficult times, camels use it as a food source.
