Canadian Geese go ashore to graze for food during the day. At night they sleep on the water. They often travel several kilometers between sleeping and eating grounds.
Canadian Geese are perennial flyers and travel large distances each year between their breeding and wintering grounds. To save energy, the birds fly in a V formation. The leading bird creates a suction, which carries the successor. As the lead bird does most of the work, they are regularly replaced.
