How many Grevys are there?
Due to poaching and habitat destruction, the Grevy’s Zebras population in the wild as been decimated from well over 2,000 to well below 2,000 within 25 years.
Wandering without a herd
Unlike the Plains Zebra, Grevy’s Zebra do not really belong to a herd. Close social ties only exist between mares and their offspring. Older stallions often live alone and defend their territories against their peers.
