Fortress on four legs
After elephants, the rhinoceros is the second largest land mammal in the world. Their skin is remarkable: with large creases and rivet-like bumps, it looks like a shell. Despite their rather sluggish appearance, the rhino can reach speeds of up to 40 km/h.
Indian Rhinoceros are solitary animals. They live in territories marked by dung mounds. If two male rivals come in contact with one another, they often fight. They can seriously injure each other with their tusk-like incisors.
