Half-and-half
Kulans are a subspecies of the Asian wild ass. They are a cross between horse and donkey. Their sounds are a mixture of horse neighs and donkey cries. These shy animals are extremely frugal. They cope very well with the scarce food supply in their natural habitat.
Male protective instincts
Kulans live in small family herds of up to 20 animals. Most of them are wandering mares led by a leader. This stallion defends his herd in danger and against rivals. He uses his hooves and teeth as weapons.
