The Przewalski's Horse is the ancestor of all domestic horse breeds. Originally, it was commonly found throughout Eurasia. Hunting and ever-expanding herds of pets have almost led to its extinction in the wild. They were last sighted sighted in the wild in 1968. Zoo breeding programs provide an insurance population to preserve the species from extinction. In 1992, reintroduction began in Mongolia.
The Przewalski's Horse differs significantly from the domestic horse. Not only is it smaller and stockier, but their dark upright mane running to the tail is characteristic of the Przewalski Horse.
