Red-eyed Tree Frog

Too beautiful for the day

Due to their eye-catching colour, Red-eyed Tree Frogs are nocturnal. During the day they sleep on the underside of leaves. The frogs crouch so closely together, that their colourful skin blends together and is practically invisible. They just look green and are barely visible to predators.

Head first into the world

The eggs are "glued" to the underside of leaves that hang directly over small bodies of water. When the tadpoles hatch, they fall straight into the water below.

Distribution area: Red-eyed tree frog
Size 8 cm
Reproduction 50-70 eggs, tadpoles hatch out after 7 days
