Solitary life
In contrast to lions living in packs, tigers are almost always solitary animals. Even when rearing their young, females live on their own.
As mating season is year-round, female tigers signal their readiness to mate by marking trees with urine or scratch marks. Sometimes females even go looking for mates, because territories are very large and they are only likely to conceive during a short three to seven day period.
