Animals from A-Z

White-handed Gibbon

Aerialists

Thanks to their unusually long arms, these brachiators can "fly" quickly through the treetops for as long as they like. Their hands are used as a hook. This is how they swing up to 12m from tree to tree.

Music is in the air

The morning chorus of gibbons can be heard for miles. Solo’s are sung to defend territories and to find mates. Duets are sung to strengthen partnerships. Males and females sing a unique variation of a theme song.
