The Nuremberg zoo association of friends was founded by Nuremberg citizens in 1958. It aimes to promote the zoo and a general public interest in zoology and natural history.
By now the or society already numbers more than 2 000 members and provides a youth group of its own.
Various activities
The association imparts information on the Nuremberg Tiergarten as well as information on natural history for everybody, offering lectures and films, excursions, educational trips and tours, and exhibitions.

Financial support
The association is creating its funds from membership fees, donations, sweepstakes and competitions, and legacy gifts. With this money the Nuremberg Tiergarten is fully sponsored in every sector. The organization´s financial support has initially enabled many of the activities and facilities of the Nuremberg zoo, after all. Alltogether, the previous financial contribution to the zoo amounts to approximately 7.1 million euros. At present but also in the future, the Nuremberg Tiergarten shall be maintained as an unique educational- and recreation center. Expansions, new acquisitions and a necessary contemporary reconstruction of old enclosures are incurring high expenditures. But there are many possibilities to support the association and the Nuremberg Tiergarten. Any donation is welcome!
