Common Eland

(engl: Elan)

Escape is the best defense

Despite being one of the largest antelope species, and their enormous weight, Elans can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h. They usually run in a fast trot, which can be maintained over long distances. Their amazing jumping ability makes them exquisite high and long jumpers.

With horns and "marking brush"

Adult animals have impressive horns and forehead hair. These characteristics are more pronounced in males. Their mane is rubbed in mud or their own urine and is used to mark tree trunks or bushes.
