Eurasian Coot

(engl: Eurasian Coot)

Like a fish in water ...

Their white frontal shield, stands in stark contrast to their dark feathers, giving rise to the phrase “as bald as a coot”. Eurasian Coot’s are excellent swimmers and divers, the birds bob their heads as they swim and dive in with a little jump.

One for all, all for one!

Eurasian Coot’s are very brave. When in danger, they try to herd their enemies together. Once they have gathered them together, they make a lot of noise. They splash them with water or flip onto their backs and kick with their feet.
