Forsthofer Minipig

(engl: Forsthofer Minipig)

Three months, three weeks, three days

With this "triad", you can easily remember the gestation period of a Forsthofer Minipig. There are up to 12 piglets in a litter. They can see, hear and walk around shortly after birth. Therefore, the little ones are called precocial.

Too small for meat production

These pigs have been at Nuremberg Zoo since 2017. As far as mini pigs go, as these pigs are often called, there are no specific breeding standards and many different breeding lines. The Zoo has Forsthofer Minipigs, which reach a shoulder height of only 30 centimeters and a weight of only twelve kilograms. They are different colours.
