Typical male
This social antelope species lives in packs of up to 30 animals. The genders are easy to distinguish. Males have horns and are also darker coloured than females. The dominant male has the darkest and longest horns.
Is the antelope crying?
In addition to other glands, ungulates generally also have pre-nasal sinuses. They create a strong smelling mucus. It is rubbed off on trees, branches and stones and is used as a marker. During mating season, these sinus secretions increase.
